About B.E.L.

Name of Program: B.E.L. Haiti Initiative
Proposed Date: June 10, 2017 – June 25, 2017

The B.E.L. Haiti Initiative is a program created by members of the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. based in Atlanta, Georgia. This program provides an opportunity to a group of university students, entrepreneurs, and community organizers from Haiti, the chance to explore business culture in the United States over the summer. The program will last for 2 weeks and expose participants to four key areas that can improve the economy of Haiti using business skills. Those areas include Agribusiness, Tourism, Renewable Energy and International Business.

This year, our host campuses are Albany State University and Georgia Institute of Technology. One week will be spent at Albany State focusing on tourism and agribusiness, and one week at Georgia Tech exploring renewable energy and International Business. Below is a proposed schedule:

The focus of the initiative is for participants to understand and seek business opportunities in these fields to create or build economic solutions through entrepreneurship and scholarship. This hints at our acronym B.E.L., Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership. At the end of the program, students will present their ideas or solutions to an audience comprised of organizations and other prominent individuals and business people. It is with hopes that this program will not only enrich the lives of those who participate, but also enrich people here in the United States about the beautiful country called Haiti.
