The B.E.L. Haiti Initiative is a program created by members of the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. based in Atlanta, Georgia. This program provides an opportunity to a group of university students, entrepreneurs, and community organizers from Haiti, the chance to explore business culture in the United States over the summer. The program will last for 2 weeks and focus on improving the participants’ business skills while helping launch or refine business plans.
Our 2018 host campuses are Albany State University and Georgia Institute of Technology. One week will be spent at Albany State focusing on business and leadership, and one week at Georgia Tech exploring business and technology. Below is a proposed schedule:
|Focus Area||Host Institution||Dates|
|Business & Leadership||Albany State University (Albany, GA)||7/08/18 – 7/15/18|
|Business & Technology||Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA)||7/16/18 -7/22/18|
The focus of the initiative is for participants to understand and seek business opportunities in key industries to create or build economic solutions through entrepreneurship and scholarship. This hints at our acronym B.E.L., Business, Entrepreneurship and Leadership. At the end of the program, students will present their ideas or solutions to an audience comprised of members from the Georgia-Haitian American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., local entrepreneurs and business owners, program instructors and prominent individuals within the community. We hope enrich communities and people here in the United States and those of beautiful island called Haiti.
