What is BEL Initiative?

The BEL Initiative is an entrepreneurship program of the Georgia Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce that provides entrepreneurship education, mentorship, access, and exposure to entrepreneurs from Haiti by hosting them in the United States for the summer.

Does my company have to be registered in Haiti to apply?

No, it is not a requirement. However, if your company is registered and you provide proof, it will strengthen your application.

How much does the program cost?

The 2020 program is FREE. There are no fees to apply or participate. BEL Initiative will cover travel expenses, lodging and meals. 

Can I apply if my business/organization is less than 1 year old?

Yes. However, the selection committee would prefer if you have been operating for at least 1 year.

Can non-profit organizations apply to the program?

Yes. Non-profits are run like businesses too.. 

Do I need to show proof of revenue?

It is not a requirement, but it will help prove and strengthen your application to the selection committee.

I do not have a United States visa. Will BEL help me?

If you are selected, BEL will provide you an acceptance letter and provide instructions on how to apply for the visa.

Will BEL pay for my visa fees?

No. Selected participants must cover their own visa and passport fees.

Will BEL guarantee me a visa because I was accepted into the program?

No. 

My English is not too good. Can I still apply?

Yes. However, we strongly encourage you to have some proficiency in English.
